Having long, healthy and shiny locks is what a lot of us women dream of! But in reality, maintaining and growing Rapunzel-length mane is not an easy task. You will need to be patient and take care of them properly to see the desired results. Below are some simple tips and tricks to grow your hair longer and faster!
10 Tips And Tricks To Grow Your Hair Longer
Get Your Hair Trimmed Every Now And Then
Getting rid of all those split ends won’t help you to grow your hair faster, but it will make your hair look healthy and nice! Chop off about 1/8th of an inch every 2-3 weeks to stay clear of split ends.
Oil Them Weekly
Oiling increases the blood circulation in your scalp and stimulates hair growth by providing the hair roots the nutrients that they require. Use lukewarm oil once a week to massage your scalp with gentle movements. Check out the 10 Best Oils For Hair Growth And Thickness. You should also include essential oils in your hair care routine! I would recommend you to check out the hair growth blend by Aroma Essentials. It contains a blend of various essential oils which are beneficial for your hair.
Aroma Essentials also have many variants of hair masks. The one I am currently testing out is their hair revitalizing mask!
Brush Your Hair Before You Sleep
Brushing also promotes hair growth with the help of increased blood circulation in your scalp. Don’t forget to tie your hair into a braid so that they don’t get tangled when you’re sleeping.
Limit The Use Of Heating Tools
I won’t tell you to completely stop the usage of heating tools like curlers, blow dryers, straighteners, etc, because I know how convenient they are when it comes to quickly styling the hair. But try to use them less as their frequent use is not good for your hair. Apply a heat protectant or aloe vera gel on your hair before using any heated styling tools, they would act as a barrier between the heat and your hair.
Say No To Hot Water
Lukewarm water is OK, but hot water is definitely a no-no! Hot water can take away the moisture (natural oils) from your hair and scalp, leaving them dry and scaly.
Avoid Shampoos That Contain SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate/Sodium Laureth Sulfate)
SLS is a very harsh chemical that’s mainly used in detergents. It can damage the hair follicles little by little after its continuous usage. There are many SLS free shampoos/cleansers available in the Indian market these days. Do check out my favourite natural hair cleansers from – Patanjali, Aroma Essentials and Ma Earth Botanicals.
Eat Healthy Foods
Fruits and veggies rich in iron and zinc are known to be the best for hair growth. Include these foods in your diet to speed up the hair growth process –
Non Vegetarian – Chicken, Meat, Fish
Vegetarian – Spinach, Carrots, Broccoli
Ditch The Towel
A regular towel (that we use to dry our body) can make your hair frizzy and may also affect the hair shaft. So instead of that, use an old T-Shirt or a microfiber towel.
Switch To Silk Pillowcase
People around the world are switching from normal, cotton pillowcases to silk pillowcases as they are proven to be beneficial for hair and skin health! Silk pillowcases are easier on the hair and that’s how they help to avoid breakage and tangles in your manes when you are taking your beauty sleep. Check out LULUSILK Natural Silk Pillowcase.
Visit A Trichologist (Hair And Scalp Specialist)
If you feel that you are losing more than the normal amount of your hair daily or you are having serious troubles with hair growth then you must see a trichologist. They will identify and treat the hair/scalp related problems you might be having.
