Maybelline India has been on a roll from quite a few months now. They’ve launched some super-duper products back to back, be it the FITMe range or these lip gradation pencils (which are known as colour blur lip crayons in other countries). I got my hands on this Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Gradation Fuschia 1 back in February, but I couldn’t post a review as I was busy with stuff. I have worn this lipstick for barely four or five times till now and I’m all set to review it today! P.S – Don’t worry if you’re too lazy to read the whole post because I’m going to tell you that this lippie is awesomesauce in the first paragraph itself!
…. still here?

To by honest, I was never interested in the graded lips trend. I bought this lipstick only because I got to know about its whooping staying power of 7-8 hours, which seems pretty impossible for a drugstore brand’s lipstick! ? I checked numerous blogs before choosing this shade (Oh yes, beauty bloggers also need to read product reviews on other people’s blogs before buying stuff?) because I was confused whether this shade would suit my skintone or not! I chose this over Orange 1 because I thought that Fuschia shade would be something new for me. I am not really pleased with this shade, I mean it’s good but not as bright as a Fuschia lipstick is supposed to be! There’s another Fuschia lipstick in “colour blur” collection (the shade name is pink insanity), but sadly it wasn’t launched in India otherwise that shade would’ve been the perfect Fuschia for me! ? Anyways, this one looks good too, but It would suit more on someone with cool or neutral undertones, and yeah, on dusky beauties too! I like this lippie mostly because of its high staying power and its pigmentation. It can stay on easily for up to 5-6hours (minimum!), can survive meals and drinks too! Few days back, I wore it to a Pooja and it literally stayed on for almost 5 hours even though I was drinking water in like every 10-20 minutes (the weather was terrible that day! We all were exhausted!), it started to fade only when I was having lunch. I have never tried the “lip gradation” thingy with it because I have uneven lips so it might look awkward on me! I have only used the sponge side once to create clean edges and it already looks filthy because of foundation stain! ?
About the finish, many bloggers say that it has “velvety-matte” finish but I’d say that it has more of powder matte finish, If you use a lip balm underneath – It’ll become velvety matte automatically! ? It’s very pigmented too, just one swipe and you’re ready to go! Have a look at the swatch below –
What I Like About Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Gradation Fuschia 1 :
• It has amazing staying power.
• Comes with an affordable price tag, considering its staying power and pigmentation. You can usually get it on Amazon on discounted price of Rs.300-400!
• Has color-coded packaging which looks cute!
• Doubles up as a lip liner.
What I Don’t Like About Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Gradation Fuschia 1 :
• Its quantity seems a bit less.
• Can feel uncomfortable and accentuate lip lines if you wear it without a lip balm underneath.
• Maybelline India didn’t release some other beautiful shades like pink fantasy and plum please. I’d have grabbed both of them without thinking twice!
Will I recommend / repurchase this?
Recommend – Yes! Repurchase – don’t know! I almost bought the Orange 1 shade few days back, but I changed my mind and bought something else. I might buy the “plum please” shade if Maybelline India ever plans to launch it in the future.
