The festival of Rakshabandhan celebrates the bond of love between brothers and sisters. This important festival takes place on the full moon (poornima) of Shraavan month which is a very pious month in the Hindu calendar. In other cultures, Rakshabandhan is referred as Rakhri, Silono or Rakhi. Different cultures celebrate Rakshabandhan in different ways, but the motive behind the festival remains the same – to share the love between siblings and make fun memories. Though I believe that this festival is not just about real brothers and sisters, it is much above blood relationships!
This year, Rakshabandhan festival is on the 26th of August, though the date may vary in different cultures! I am pretty sure that all you lovely sisters are done with outfit, makeup and jewelry shopping for rakshabandhan so that you can look all dolled up on this festival! Bold Mehndi Design
Bold patterns always give out a darker stain which looks absolutely gorgeous! I am a kind of girl who would not really care about the mehendi patterns on my hand, I am just obsessed with dark stains! But sadly, I rarely get dark stains on my hands which hurts! ?
While I am at it, I just want to share a quick tip on how to get dark mehndi stain on your palms! I rarely try this tip out of my laziness. I feel so sleepy and tired after getting the design done that I am left with no energy to do anything for a darker mehandi stain.
The tip is, once you are done with the design, give it some time to dry. Meanwhile, put a pan on the heat and add 5-6 cloves (laung) to it. Once the cloves start to release smoke, put your hand right above the pan (well, not that close!). Keep it like that for a couple of minutes, the smoke coming out of cloves will help to make your henna stains darker!
Another tip, don’t rush to remove henna from your hands. Remove it only after 6-8 hours. And instead of washing it off with water, use a cake knife or a butter knife to gently scrape off the dry henna. If it doesn’t come off that easily, you can use mustard oil to remove it. You should try to avoid getting water on your henna as much as possible.
