The festival of Rakshabandhan celebrates the bond of love between brothers and sisters. This important festival takes place on the full moon (poornima) of Shraavan month which is a very pious month in the Hindu calendar. In other cultures, Rakshabandhan is referred as Rakhri, Silono or Rakhi. Different cultures celebrate Rakshabandhan in different ways, but the motive behind the festival remains the same – to share the love between siblings and make fun memories. Though I believe that this festival is not just about real brothers and sisters, it is much above blood relationships!
