Review | Natural Bath & Body French Red Clay Face Mask

Clay based masks are loved by everyone across India. After Ubtan, Multani Mitti (Fuller’s Earth) must be the most used product by women of India for the beautification of the skin. I have a very limited knowledge about clays and all. I didn’t know that something like “French red clay mask” existed until my blogger bestie Sonali brought this Natural Bath & Body French Red Clay Face Mask to my notice. I’m using this product since June and now I’m ready to review it for my loves! If you want to know more about it then keep on reading!

Natural Bath & Body French Red Clay Face Mask

Like the special clay masks that were a favourite with the Egyptian goddess Cleopatra, our French Red Clay mask never fails to soften your skin, preserve its complexion and impart a natural glow. It is a gentle paste of French Red Clay, which is an absolute powerhouse of iron and other minerals! Best suited for normal to oily skin types, it cleanses, detoxifies and exfoliates the skin, leaving it highly refreshed and toned. The clay is blended with Rose oil, virgin Coconut oil and the balancing Cedar wood essential oils. As the oils further nourish the skin, Turmeric powder and Sandalwood give it a distinctive radiance.

My Take

I was longing to buy this mask since the day I got to know about it from my friend, Sonali. Each and every review I read about it were positive and that made me even more tempted to buy it. So when I spotted it on Aplava, I ordered it right away!

The first time when I used this mask, it left my skin so dry and dehydrated that I made my mind to never ever use it again. It kinda sucked in all the moisture and caused dry patches allover my skin. It took my skin around 1-2 weeks time to get back to its normal texture. I discussed this issue with my blogger besties and realized that I left the mask on my face for too long (about 25-30 minutes!!! Product description says 10 minutes you fool!!!), that’s why it made my skin terribly dry. Silly me, I had no idea that you’re supposed to remove clay based mask once it’s semi-dry, not full dry! Anyways, I decided to give it an another shot. This time, the mask didn’t make my skin dry because I washed it off within 15 minutes. Now I’m not scared to use it.

The mask’s formula is very smooth so it spreads easily on the skin. I apply it in a thin layer, otherwise it takes a lot of time to dry. The real struggle starts when it’s the time to wash off the mask! It is a clay based mask so you’ve to put some effort to remove it completely from the skin. I first splash some water on my face, then I use my finger tips to gently massage the mask (like you do with face wash or scrub) on my face for a few seconds before washing it off completely. It takes away the annoying sebum with it and leaves my skin totally matte. I do notice a nice brightening effect on my face after using this mask, but the effect doesn’t stays for more than a couple of days.

Natural Bath & Body French Red Clay Face Mask is best suited for people with oily and acne prone skin. Regular use of this mask can help you to fade out any blemishes and also control acne or reduce the size of pre-existing ones. The changes will take time to show up so be patient!

What I liked about Natural Bath & Body French Red Clay Face Mask

  • Contains amazing ingredients like Fuller’s Earth, Zinc Oxide, Red Clay, Carrot Seed Oil, etc.
  • Gets rid of excess sebum and impurities from skin.
  • Leaves the skin completely matte and bright.
  • Helps to fade out blemishes and acne.
  • Comes in great quantity. It will take you months to finish it.

What I didn’t like about Natural Bath & Body French Red Clay Face Mask

  • A bit pricey, though it’s justifiable if you see its quantity and ingredients list.
  • The brand has the sample sized tube of this face masque (which was sent out sometime this year in FabBag), but they’ve not made it available on any of the online shopping websites. I’d have preferred to buy the tube version instead because it’s hygienic to use and I’d could finish it off quickly.
  • The effect doesn’t lasts for a longer period of time.

Final Words

Red clay has really good properties for skin! I will recommend this to those with combination/oily and acne prone skin. It will make your skin feel fresh and bright by removing the excess oil and providing a natural glow. Try to grab the sample size of this product first!

  1. I got a sample size in my Fab Bag. But like as you said I kept it for around half an hour and it dried out my skin very much. Will remember next time to keep it only for 10 mins…

    1. Awwww 🙁 please try it again and don’t leave it on for more than 15 minutes. If you want, you can mix IT with honey.

  2. i had a sample of this in fab bag; it is pretty decent… usually i avoid clay packs since my skin is dry…. also wetting your face before removing is a nice idea even if it has dried 🙂
