And with the ever-evolving fashion trends out there, we have seen quite a lot of new and unique draping styles for sarees that will make you say goodbye to the conventional saree draping styles that you might be flaunting all this while!

In this post, I am going to share with you the 9 different saree draping styles that are cool, simple yet edgy. If you are a modern Indian woman who loves to add an indo-western touch to her saree looks, then you are going to adore these 9 different ways to wear a saree.

1. Pant Style Saree

Comfy, chic and extremely easy to carry – that’s pant style saree drape for you!

I am not exaggerating, but you can literally dance around and walk freely in this saree drape (which, ahem, gets difficult when you drape it in a conventional way), without worrying about your pallu getting all over the place or your pleats getting undone. Make sure to pin your saree at the right places though!

2. Dhoti Style Saree

If you are a Maharashtrian, then you would be able to recognize this draping style very well since it is a lot similar to the traditional Maharashtrian “Nauvaari” saree draping.

3. Saree Accessorized With A Belt

Got a stylish waist belt lying around in your wardrobe? Amp up the look of your simple saree with it! There is nothing much to do with this style, just drape your saree like you normally would and pin up the pallu properly. Then, tie the belt around your waist, making sure it goes around your pallu too. The belt will enhance your curves and also make you look slimmer in your saree.

To match up the belt with your saree, you can  get a custom belt made out of your saree’s blouse piece, just in case you don’t plan to get a blouse stitched with it. This style also adds a nice glam to front pallu saree drapes, do try it out!

4. Saree With A White Shirt As A Blouse

You may have seen women pairing their sarees with chic crop tops or T-shirts, how about paring them with plain white shirt for that polished and professional look?

6. Modified Bengali Style Saree

This draping is a bit different from the traditional Bengali saree draping in which, the pallu through your left shoulder.

7. Saree With A Contrasting Blouse

While this is not a Saree draping method, it is still a style statement. Instead of pairing your saree with the blouse that comes along with it, opt for a contrasting coloured blouse to add a touch of uniqueness to your look!

8. The Mumtaz Style Saree Drape 

To answer your question – No, you cannot walk in a normal way if you wear a Saree like this (tried & tested!). Only legends like Mumtaz Ji can do that! But there is no harm in trying, right?

9. Street Style Saree / Scarf Style Drape 

Also known as the neck drape style, this drape is totally appropriate for fun wedding functions like a cocktail night or bridal shower. Choose a plain and comfortable cotton or silk saree for this draping, because having a zari bordered saree around your neck will not feel comfortable at all!
