From top Makeup Artists to Beauty Gurus, in the last 3-4 years, everyone has been going crazy about contouring! Many girls (including me!) spend hours and hours watching videos on YouTube to learn the latest tricks to contour face. But the question is, who started the contour-revolution? According to an article on Wikipedia, contouring has been there since 1500-1600, but I believe that it only got popular when the legendary(?) Kim Kardashian tweeted a picture of her “during & after” contour face.
What exactly is Contouring?
Contouring is a makeup technique which is done to accentuate the natural lines of the face. One can get a perfectly chiseled face and jaw line with the help of right contouring products and techniques. Today I am going to list out some super affordable contouring products that are easily available in India so keep on reading! (I have also mentioned some amazing contouring tools at the end of this post ?)
The Ultimate List Of Affordable Contouring Products In India
You might have already seen this type of 15 colours contour kit on online shopping websites under different brand names. It contains corrector shades like yellow, green, purple as well as a highlighter. I have purchased this one from Banggood.com. A review of this contour kit will be coming up after I have tested it properly.

After buying a cream based contour palette, I realized that I should’ve bought a powder based contour palette instead because it’s much easier to work with powder if you’re a beginner in the world of contouring. This “Professional 6 Colors Contour Face Powder Makeup Blush Palette” is also unbranded aka generic. Sometimes you will find it being sold under different brands like iMeasy or eforstore, but the product will remain the same.
I knew this brand only for their cute lip and cheek stain, but one day, while I was going through Amazon’s beauty section, I found out that they have some other cool products as well. They actually have 2-3 different kinds of contouring products, one of them is contour and highlight stick, other one is cream based contour and correct palette with 3 contour and 4 corrector shades. The 3rd one is a powder based contour palette which has 1 contour shade, 1 bronzer and 1 highlighter. You can check out more details about them by clicking on the links.
Yes – it is a compact powder, but fair-medium skinned beauties can use it for soft contour. It retails for only Rs.399/- and can be bought easily anywhere in India!
I can totally hear you all saying.. “This girl is crazy! Why is she mentioning setting powder and a foundation in contouring products list?” BUUUT, my friends, you can actually use this foundation to contour your cheeks! Apply it in small dots across the hollow of your cheeks and use a makeup sponge or blending brush to buff it out. It is the darkest shade of FitMe foundation available in India. If you can get your hands on the Maybelline FitMe Foundation Stick (you luckybum! ?) then it’d be even more better! (Read my review here)
Makeup Revolution products aren’t that cheap in India, as compared to other countries, but their eye and face palettes are to-die-for! I own their blush, bronze and brighten palette. The bronzer in that palette is too light for Indian skin tones so I will rather recommend you girls to try out this ultra sculpt & contour kit. (It is currently on a great discount! I have seen a similar trio from Freedom Makeup London (sister company of Makeup Revolution London), but I found Sivanna one to be much cheaper and reasonably priced. It is available in 4 shades, pictured above is the darkest one.
2. Maybelline New York V-Face Contouring Products
Maybelline launched 3 of their contouring products in India last year during the Amazon India fashion week. The products include – Maybelline V-Face Duo Stick (With a contouring stick on one end and an highlighting one on the other), Maybelline V-Face Duo Powder (With a light highlighting powder and a dark contouring powder) and Maybelline Contouring Blush (With two blush shades and one contouring shade). All of them are priced under Rs.600/-
Yeah, the kit says “corrector, blusher and highlighter”, but the corrector shade is actually a contour powder! Many brands have launched such trios – Contour/Highlight/Blush or Bronzer/Highlight/Blush. This kit from Sivanna is the most affordable option for you if you live in India. I think it is available in total 5-6 shades. The contour and highlighter shades remain same in all of the kits – just the blushers are of different shades ranging from coral, peach and pink colour family.
Now since we’re done with the contouring products, let’s talk about contouring tools!

- Vega Contour Brush
- PAC Brush 063
